Intro: Argument Paper

            Besides our first assignment, this paper was by far my favorite to write. I enjoyed being able to choose a non-conventional topic that wasn’t your typically “for or against”-type paper. I really enjoy writing argument papers however, I really wish I would someday be able to write an argument based solely on my own knowledge. I think it would be really interesting to see as a class, how much knowledge students have about specific issues. Parts of my paper didn’t seem very extreme, and I hated that I wasn’t able to include pictures or video clips with my paper to appeal to the audience’s emotions. For example, when talking about the real-life examples, unless you put yourself in the situations described, having water poured on you doesn’t sound very extreme, even though actually going through something like that would be extremely traumatic. I also think that this paper may not be taken seriously as it should. One part of the paper that I didn’t really find a place for while writing, but that I wanted to write about, was how women in the music industry are pressured to keep up with the sexuality of music videos in order to gain popularity. I feel as though if I had added this point, my paper would’ve been stronger.
           Looking at my journey as a writer in this class, I feel as though this was a good way to end my assignments in this class. I think I was able to showcase my identity as a writer in that, I was able to show my ability to effectively present a unique argument and find legitimate sources to back up my argument. While there were obviously things I could’ve improved, I think this was one of the better papers of my writing career; I would definitely choose this paper, with a few tweaks, to be an example of my identity as a writer.
